Jokes For A Meathead (If you don't get the joke, just ask your local bodybuilder to explain)

If you plan your schedule around when you go to the gym instead of planning when you go to the gym around your schedule. You might be a meathead.

Involuntary Muscle Spasms...Enjoy the show.

Went to the Doctor today and when he ask for my symptoms I told him that I was super swole...well after the test came back it was offical. I've got Swoleosis.

If you ever pop your pecs to the bass in music, you just might be a meathead.

Meathead Problems: Go to party, see the another swole dude there, and he is also wearing a black V-neck....but your not a rookie. You always keep a spare white one in the truck..just in case.

Red bull may give you wings....but so does Lat Pulls.

Having the right diet,, aint no thang but a chicken wing..or breast......and rice, eggs, and oats. Well you get the point.

Meathead Bluetooth- when your traps are big enough to keep your phone in place.

Probably not the best idea to listen to your workout playlist before you go to bed. Note to self.

Opening a gym with tanning bed bulbs for lights. The jacked and tan special. No eye wear or shirts required.

So glad to finally have the sun out when I get out of the gym. Now I can get a little bit of a tan on my way to go tan. YEAH.

Went to GNC and ask for protein. He ask if I wanted Casein and I said No Whey...( no way)..

I'm so dedicated, I never smile...because it takes more muscles to frown.

As a meathead, it is my obligation to wear a bright tank top to any extended amount of time or event that is outside.

Think I'm allergic to exercise. Every time I do it, I swell up all over.

You're like a t-rex...you got a big mouth, but no biceps.

When it comes to Back, It's not weight it's work

When it comes to back it's not all about weight. The back can move a lot of weight but it is also easy to not train correctly and only focus on the weight. In many of the different exercises for back you will see people working more of their other muscles and not so much of the one that they are isolating.

Probably one of the biggest mistake made when working back is when doing rows. Remember that what is needed is full protraction and retraction at the scapulae. Instead of moving the shoulder blades people hinge their upper and lower back all over the place in an effort to move huge piles of weight. This is not correct. Your goal should be to use the actual muscles and develop them correctly, after all, we're trying to train, not be the "tool" in the corner trying to impress everyone by slamming uncontrollable weight around. "When rowing, focus on locking down your upper and lower back. Set them in place, and then think about allowing your shoulder blades to glide to the front on the eccentric or lowering phase, and then retract them on the concentric phase."

The lats are one of the largest muscle groups in the body. Most bodybuilders have spent serious time working on their lats. Focusing on using lats vs. using your biceps when doing exercise is one of the biggest mistakes commonly made.

Other major muscle commonly mistrained in the back are the rhomboids and traps. The biggest mistake here is people "throwing" the weight up or using there legs to move most of the weight vs. isolating their back.

I am not on steriods

So for anyone that has made big gains in bodybuilding, you may be used to being accused of using steriods. If you are anything like me then you all natural but have grown used to people asking this. There are a few stages of how you feel about getting ask that question.

The first couple of times you get ask if you are taking steriods, you are thrilled. The thought I had was "Wow! People are really starting to notice that I am making gains.

However, after the first few times, it starts to get a little annoying. It personally felt like people were beginning to belittle all my hard work. It becomes especially annoying when they say that around other people. The worst is when people start to tell you that other people told them that you were taking steriods.

All and all though, get big and who cares what everybody thinks.

Top Basic supplements

With so many supplements out there it's hard to know what one should take. Well, many professionals have agreed on a few. There is whey protein, creatine, glutamine, and preworkouts,

First is whey protein. This is the most common and generally the first supplement that people starting a weight lifting regiment tend to get. Whey protein is one of the quickest and most easlily digestable protein sources available. Most powders offer around 30 grams of protein and all you have to do is drink it fast. It is probably the easiest way to help meet your recommended protein intake for the day if you are a bodybuilding training regiment. Without the proper amount of protein your body will not generate the amount of muscle one would like to gain.

Second is creatine. This is considered to be one of the grandfathers of bodybuilding supplements. Creatine increases the body's ability to produce energy rapidly. With more energy, you can train harder and more often, producing faster results.

Glutamine supplements help to minimize muscle tissue breakdown and improve protein metabolism. It has also shown to also have cell volumizing effects.

Preworkouts are something that most people don't find out about until they have been lifting for awhile. However, after you use one it is very hard to stop. A preworkout is like and energy drink in powder form, but is for fast energy. It also contains extra ingredients that are made to help increase blood flow and other benefiting factors.

The King! Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold is an inspiration in the bodybuilding community. One of, if not the most recognizable name in the bodybuilding community is Arnold Schwarzenegger, even though he has not competed since the 1970’s. He was the youngest ever Mr. Olympia at the age of 23, a record he still holds to this day. He also won six consecutive times. His movie Pumping Iron has became motivation and inspiration to many bodybuilders and has became a must see for anyone who is serious about training. This movie put into perspective how hard Arnold trained and showed his passion for bodybuilding.

Here is one little segment from Pumping Iron where Arnold talks about his favorite part of bodybuilding... "the pump"

Alongside with being a bodybuilding inspiration, Arnold helps to continually support the sport grow. He even created a completion that is now nationally known. He created the Arnold classic for those who are . The Arnold Classic, is an annual bodybuilding competition, named after Arnold Schwarzenegger. It takes place in late February or early March in Columbus, Ohio, United States. It is also referred to as the Arnold Sports Festival.

The newest Preworkout supplement to hit my shelf, or gym bag that is.

As someone who is in the gym a lot, mostly to lift weights, I have become one of "those guys," you know, the ones that have a gym bag that is packed full of random powders, pills, gloves, and straps. Well, these random powders and and pills are called supplements. My gym bag supplement powders right now are protein and preworkout. A preworkout is something that you mix with water and drink before you go to lift and it contains different ingredients that help to give you more energy during your workout and also to help you grow stronger faster.
I have tried many preworkouts and they are all helpful, but some are better than others. The newest one that I am currently using is called Crave by Driven Sports. Usually when I get a new preworkout it is because I have heard a lot about it from people in the gym or they have let me try some of what they have and I like it, so I then get some it too. However, with Craze it was something different, considering that most people I ask had never even heard of it before. One of the reasons that I decided to give this product a try was because it was rated #1 on bodybuilding.com's list of top selling items. So I decided to do a little research myself.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/drivensports/craze.html This is the link to the products description on bodybuilding.com's website.

I liked what I read so I decided to get some and try. I wish I could say that this product lived up to the hype that had been placed on in it, but in my opinion, it did not really stick out very much. Don't get me wrong, I do like it, but not necessarily any more than I have like others in the past.

Gym pet peeves

Anyone that goes to the gym on a pretty regular basis is going to develop some pet peeves.   For me personally, there are quite a few of these. One of the biggest ones for me is what people like to call circuit training. What this pretty much means is that people will use multiple pieces of equipment at the same time. Usually these people are jerks about it too if you ask to work in or if you try to use something they are on.
Another couple pet peeves are the people that like to slam the weights and also the people that spend most of their time at the gym talking to everyone. Most people are there to work out and do not like to be bothered. Then here comes Mr. Joe Blow that wants to tell you his life story and waste your time. On the note of slamming weights all the time, learn to control the weight. I've noticed that sometimes people will slam weights to try to draw attention as to how much weight they are doing, and most of the time it is not very impressive to start with.
Lastly, I wish that people would learn that not everyone cares about what your routine is or what supplements take. I sometimes enjoy talking about these things because they interest me. However, when you have a big meathead just telling everyone he sees what he is doing and why, it has a tendency to piss people off.

For a little bit of comic relief here is a video that makes fun of people that are kind of like this...also I just find this video to be hilarious
